Let’s be clear: Tata Motors has not announced anything. This is purely a topic of discussion among buyers. And as experts, we think this rumor has a major flaw.

The Big Problem: Too Heavy for CNG?

The new Sierra will be a large, premium SUV. Tata’s current CNG technology (the 1.2L Turbo in the Nexon) produces 99 BHP.

• The Reality: Putting a 99 BHP engine in a heavy SUV like the Sierra would likely result in a very sluggish car. It would struggle to climb hills or overtake on highways.

Unless a bigger CNG engine is developed, the math just doesn’t add up.

Hypothetical Tata Sierra CNG Price

If this car ever became a reality, it would likely command a premium of ₹1 Lakh over the petrol model.
