Tata Sierra Base Model Price
Tata has launched the Sierra at a shocking starting price of ₹11.49 Lakh. This sounds like an amazing deal for such a big, premium SUV.
But before you rush to book the base model (likely called “Smart” or “Pure”), you need to know what you are not getting. This low price comes with a hidden compromise.

THE ENGINE TRAP: “NA” VS “TURBO”
The base model does not get the powerful new 170 PS Turbo engine. Instead, it gets the 1.5L Naturally Aspirated (NA) Petrol engine.
- Power: Only 104 BHP (Approx).
- Torque: Only 145 Nm.
Why this is a problem: The Sierra is a heavy SUV. A 104 BHP engine will feel weak and sluggish, especially on highways or when climbing hills with a full load. It is the same engine power as a much smaller car.
WHAT ELSE IS MISSING?
To hit that low price, Tata has likely removed the best features:
- No Panoramic Sunroof.
- No Triple Screens (likely a basic infotainment system).
- No Alloy Wheels (expect steel wheels with covers).
OUR EXPERT VERDICT
The Tata Sierra Base Model is a “marketing price.” It gets you into the showroom, but you won’t be happy driving it.
Smart Advice: Spend the extra ₹2-3 Lakh and buy the Turbo Petrol variant. The power difference is massive and necessary for a car this size.
