Ram 72000 trucks recall Issued After 12-Inch Digital Clusters Go Blank While Driving

Ram is launching a new safety recall affecting over 72,000 2025 and 2026 model year trucks. The Ram 72000 trucks recall is due to a faulty 12-inch digital instrument cluster that can intermittently go blank while driving, taking key safety indicators down with it. This problem causes the trucks to fall out of compliance with federal motor vehicle safety standards.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue traces back to a software error in early examples of the 12-inch panels supplied by Marelli North America. This marks yet another safety issue for the brand, adding to ongoing concerns about quality control for the latest model years.

Here is a closer look at the affected models and the urgent safety implications.

The Issue and Critical Safety Risk

On the surface, a blank display may sound like a minor inconvenience, but the problem is severe because the digital cluster houses information required by federal safety standards.

The software glitch may cause the display to go black at startup or while driving, rendering the vehicle immediately non-compliant with multiple safety requirements.

Affected Models and Repair Timeline

The recall includes a total of 72,509 trucks, covering most of Ram’s major light-duty and heavy-duty models equipped with the 12-inch cluster.

  • The Fix: Technicians will perform the repair free of charge, either by reprogramming the instrument cluster with updated software or, if necessary, replacing the unit entirely.
