Mercedes C-Class EQ Revealed
Mercedes-Benz is set to launch a new electric version of its popular C-Class sedan, called the C-Class EQ, which will arrive next year. This new model will be an electric alternative to the current C-Class, giving customers the choice between an internal combustion engine (ICE) and an electric vehicle (EV). The C-Class EQ is designed to be a direct rival to BMW’s upcoming electric 3 Series, the new i3, and both models are expected to launch around the same time. This new sedan is a major step in Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to electrifying its entire lineup.
A Striking New Design and Premium Interior
The new Mercedes C-Class EQ will feature Mercedes’ latest “Iconic Grille” styling, a signature design element that will distinguish it from its ICE siblings. The car is also set to get a design that is bigger than the current C-Class, with a longer wheelbase for more cabin space. Inside, the C-Class EQ will mirror the luxurious layout of the new GLC EQ, with the option of a vast Hyperscreen digital display stretching across the dashboard, making it a true high-tech luxury sedan. This focus on premium design and technology is what will make the new C-Class a formidable rival in the luxury EV segment.

Powertrain, Range, and Charging
The C-Class EQ is built on the new MB.EA platform and will share its powertrain options with the GLC EQ. It will be offered with a variety of configurations, from a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model with 335 hp to a powerful dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) option with up to 482 hp. All variants will use a 94.5kWh NMC battery.
Thanks to its more aerodynamic shape, the C-Class EQ is expected to have a longer range than the GLC EQ, with a claimed range of up to 800km on a single charge. It will also support fast charging speeds of up to 400kW, which will significantly reduce charging times.

A Direct Rival for the BMW i3 and Others
The launch of the C-Class EQ will intensify competition in the premium midsize EV segment. Alongside its primary rival, the BMW i3, it will also face competition from models like the Audi A4 e-tron and the Tesla Model 3. Mercedes’ strategic move to build an electric version of its most popular sedan shows its commitment to leading the electric vehicle transition, directly challenging its competitors in the core market segment.
