Czinger Koenigsegg Laguna Seca record War Heats Up: Czinger 21C Prepares to Retaliate
American hypercar maker Czinger has revenge on its mind after recently losing the lap record at its home track. The Czinger Koenigsegg Laguna Seca record war is now fully underway, after the Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear completed a run of the 2.24-mile circuit in a blistering time of 1:24.16 in November 2025. Czinger, which considers Laguna Seca its home track, is preparing its “California Gold Rush” 21C to retaliate and bring the crown back to Los Angeles.
This rivalry showcases the engineering pinnacle of modern hypercars, where performance margins are measured in fractions of a second.

Here is a closer look at the times and the specifications of the two track weapons.
The Finest of Margins
The competition between the Czinger 21C and the Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear is incredibly tight. The difference between the two fastest homologated production cars at Laguna Seca is barely perceptible.

Koenigsegg’s record is especially impressive given the constraints: the run was completed on a strict 90 dB noise limit day, which required fitting an additional, heavy muffler behind the rear. The car also ran on heavier aluminum wheels instead of optimized carbon-fiber items, hinting that the Sadair’s Spear has even more time to find.

Czinger’s Weapon: The 21C
The 21C that will attempt to reclaim the Czinger Koenigsegg Laguna Seca record is a true masterpiece of American engineering. The hypercar combines two independent front electric motors with a powerful 2.9-liter flat-plane crank twin-turbo V8, resulting in a unique hybrid powertrain.
- Hybrid Power: The system produces a combined 1,250 horsepower, allowing the car to rocket from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.9 seconds.
- Downforce: Aerodynamic efficiency is paramount, allowing the 21C to generate over 4,400 pounds (2,000 kg) of downforce at 190 mph.
Czinger CEO Lukas Czinger acknowledged the feat by Christian von Koenigsegg, saying, “We’ve got nothing but respect for you and the entire team at Koenigsegg,” while confirming the team will come out “guns blazing” to fight for the home track record. The competition is healthy, and the rivalry ensures that the final word on the Laguna Seca production car lap record has yet to be written.
