Yamaha India Sales Breakup Aug 2025: RayZR, FZ, MT15 Drive Strong MoM Growth
Chennai, India – Yamaha Motor India reported domestic sales of 60,413 units in August 2025, a marginal 0.30% year-on-year (YoY) increase from 60,231 units sold in August 2024. However, the brand showcased a robust 19.95% month-on-month (MoM) growth, rebounding strongly from 50,365 units in July 2025. While overall YoY sales remained flat, this significant MoM surge signals a positive shift, largely propelled by strong performances from its leading scooter, RayZR, and popular motorcycles, the FZ series and MT-15.
RayZR Leads Scooter Charge, FZ Series and MT-15 Shine
The Yamaha RayZR 125 continued to be the brand’s top-performing scooter, recording 20,671 units in August 2025. This marks an impressive 27.10% YoY growth and a strong 25.88% MoM increase, highlighting its sustained popularity.
In the motorcycle segment, the FZ series demonstrated significant momentum with 14,323 units sold, up 16.89% YoY and an even sharper 28.92% MoM growth. The MT-15 also contributed positively, selling 10,613 units, a 6.89% YoY and substantial 24.65% MoM jump.
R15 Sees Recovery, Fascino and Premium Models Face Declines
While the R15 experienced a 12.28% YoY decline with 7,529 units, it managed to recover some ground with a 13.68% MoM growth. Yamaha is gearing up to launch a new motorcycle on November 11, speculated to be the XSR155, which was recently spied testing.
Among scooters, the Fascino reported a steep 56.43% YoY decline, selling only 4,849 units. It also saw an 11.03% MoM dip, indicating ongoing challenges in this segment. In contrast, the Aerox 155 maxi-scooter showed promising growth on both fronts, with 2,424 units sold, up 21.32% YoY and 8.26% MoM, suggesting increasing traction for its sporty appeal.
In the premium motorcycle category, the R3 / MT-03 duo struggled significantly, selling just 4 units in August 2025. This represents a drastic 94.74% YoY decline and a 50% MoM fall, highlighting a continued weakness in demand for Yamaha’s higher-end offerings.

GST Rate Cut and Festive Season Expected to Boost Sales
Yamaha’s sales are poised for further acceleration in the coming months, driven by the recent GST rate cut on two-wheelers. This reduction has made key models like the RayZR, FZ, MT15, and R15 more affordable, likely to spur demand, especially among younger and first-time buyers. This positive development coincides perfectly with the upcoming festive season, traditionally a period of heightened automobile sales. The combined effect of price reductions and festive sentiment is anticipated to deliver a strong boost in volumes for Yamaha in the months ahead.
