5 Compact SUVs Get More Affordable After GST 2.0
The new GST 2.0 reform has brought some great news for car buyers. With a tax reduction from 28% to 18% on most sub-4m cars, several popular compact SUVs are now much more affordable. This article takes a look at the top 5 compact SUVs that are getting price cuts, making them an even better deal for customers just in time for the festive season.
1. Maruti Brezza

The Maruti Brezza, one of the top-selling SUVs in the segment, will also get a price cut. However, because its engine is larger than 1200cc, it will be placed in the 40% GST slab instead of the more beneficial 18%. This means the Brezza will see a price reduction of around Rs 30,000 to Rs 48,000, which is still a good saving but not as significant as its rivals.
2. Hyundai Venue

The Hyundai Venue is one of the biggest winners of the GST reform. Its petrol and diesel variants were previously taxed at 29% and 31%, respectively, but are now in the 18% GST slab. This has resulted in a massive price cut of up to Rs 1.32 lakh, making the Venue a much more attractive option for buyers.
3. Kia Sonet

Just like its sibling, the Hyundai Venue, the Kia Sonet also gets the full benefits of the new tax reform. Its price has been slashed by up to Rs 1.64 lakh, a direct result of the tax dropping to 18%. The price cut makes the Sonet an even stronger contender in the segment, with a new price range of Rs 7.30 lakh to Rs 14.10 lakh.
4. Tata Nexon

The Tata Nexon, a popular choice among Indian buyers, is also getting a significant price cut of up to Rs 1.55 lakh. Its petrol and diesel variants, which were previously taxed at 29% and 31%, are now in the 18% GST slab. This will make the Nexon an even more compelling option for buyers who are looking for a powerful and safe SUV at a great price.
5. Mahindra XUV 3XO

Mahindra is the only company to have implemented the new prices early, with the benefits being available from September 6. The XUV 3XO is now cheaper by up to Rs 1.40 lakh for the petrol variant and Rs 1.56 lakh for the diesel variant. The price drop makes the XUV 3XO a very strong contender, with a new price range of Rs 7.28 lakh to Rs 14.40 lakh.
