Theon Design Latest 964 911 commission is a masterpiece of automotive restomodding, proudly cracking the highly sought-after 100-horsepower-per-liter barrier. This bespoke creation, built by the UK-based Porsche restoration specialist, delivers an astonishing 407 hp from just 3.8 liters of flat-six engine. Encased in a lightweight carbon-fiber body and weighing a mere 2,420 pounds (wet), this Ice Green beauty promises exhilarating performance and an unparalleled driving experience. While no price was officially given, previous Theon Design commissions have started at $590,000, placing this vehicle firmly in exclusive collector territory.

A Flat-Six Marvel: Power, Precision, and Performance

The heart of this exceptional 964 911 is a comprehensively overhauled, naturally aspirated, air-cooled 3.8-liter engine. Theon Design proudly calls it “a flat-six marvel,” capable of producing 407 bhp at 7,600 rpm and a stout 293 lb-ft of torque. This formidable power output, combined with the car’s featherlight 1,150-kilogram (2,420 pounds wet) curb weight, results in a power-to-weight ratio of less than six pounds per horsepower—firmly placing it in supercar territory with “effortless in-gear performance.”

The potent engine incorporates advanced drive-by-wire throttle technology and Theon’s in-house-developed switchable engine mapping system. This innovative system offers four distinct driving modes, ranging from a relaxed, detuned “Town” setting to a full-power, instant-throttle-response “Race” mode, allowing the new British owner to tailor the driving dynamics to any situation.

Grand Touring Suspension and Carbon-Fiber Construction

As with all Theon Design cars, this commission was fully rebuilt from the chassis out. The process begins with a donor 964 911 (produced from 1988-1994), which is stripped to bare metal, 3D scanned, and then meticulously rebuilt from the ground up with full seam welding to significantly increase torsional rigidity and structural strength. Over this reinforced platform, Theon’s signature lightweight carbon-fiber bodywork is expertly laid.

While track dominance is not the sole focus, the suspension is precisely calibrated for grand touring, “with British roads specifically in mind.” The springs are described as “more relaxed,” designed to deliver exceptional control and comfort even on the roughest road surfaces.

The vehicle rides on bespoke 18-inch Fuchs-style wheels wrapped in high-performance Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires (235/40ZR-18 front and 275/35ZR-18 rear). These tires have been widened proportionally to the original 964 setup to “amplify” grip without altering the car’s renowned balance. Stopping power is provided by a Porsche 993 RS brake setup with distinctive red calipers, ensuring “exceptional stopping power, pedal feel, and response.”

Exquisite Interior and Public Debut

The interior of this right-hand-drive masterpiece features Phantom Black leather with contrasting Ice Green stitching that perfectly matches the exterior paint scheme. Driver and passenger are cradled in Recaro CS seats with carbon-fiber backs and woven centers. Every detail speaks to bespoke craftsmanship, with all vents, door handles, and control knobs machined from billet aluminum. Even the gauge cluster is specific to Theon. For modern convenience, an Alpine HDS-990 head unit magically appears from under the dash, feeding power to a six-speaker sound system.

This stunning Theon Design 964 911 will make its public debut this weekend at the thrice-annual Bicester Motion Scramble held in Oxfordshire, not far from Theon Design’s headquarters. The theme for this particular Scramble, “Reboots and Restomods,” is entirely fitting for such an extraordinary vehicle, set against the historic backdrop of a former World War II airfield.
