Maruti Victoris Gets a Double 5-Star Rating in Global NCAP Crash Tests

Great news for car buyers who prioritize safety! The new Maruti Victoris has achieved a top-tier 5-star safety rating in the latest Global NCAP crash tests, a major milestone that positions it among the safest cars in India. This achievement comes just weeks after the Victoris also received a 5-star rating from Bharat NCAP. A Breakdown of the Impressive Scores

The Victoris performed exceptionally well in the Global NCAP tests. It scored an impressive 33.72 out of 34 points for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 41 out of 49 points for Child Occupant Protection (COP). These high scores are the result of its stable structure, good protection for the head, neck, and limbs of both the driver and passenger, and full protection for child dummies in both frontal and side impact tests.

Here is a summary of the scores from both crash tests:

Global NCAP33.72 / 3441 / 49
Bharat NCAP31.66 / 3243 / 49

Key Safety Features Behind the Success

The high safety ratings of the Victoris are backed by a comprehensive list of standard safety features. The SUV comes with 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat mounts, and 3-point seatbelts for all passengers. It is also the first Maruti car to offer a Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) suite in its higher variants, which includes features like Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) and Lane Keep Assist (LKA).

A New Standard for Maruti

This double 5-star rating is a significant moment for Maruti Suzuki. It signals a major change in the company’s philosophy, moving away from its old track record of poor safety ratings. As Global NCAP’s CEO Richard Woods said, the result “demonstrates Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to improved safety for its new models.” The Victoris has now set a new safety standard in the compact SUV segment and will be a formidable competitor to rivals like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
