Tesla Model Y India Gets Major Range Upgrade in India – Now Up to 661 Km
Tesla has quietly upgraded the Model Y in India, making it even more practical for long-distance travel without raising the price. Just a month after commencing deliveries on September 5, 2025, the electric SUV has received a new battery pack, boosting its range by nearly 40 km. This move strengthens Tesla’s appeal in India’s growing luxury EV market.
Longer Range, Same Price
The Tesla Model Y India Long Range RWD now offers 661 km (WLTP), up from the earlier 622 km. The bump in range comes from a switch to an 84.2 kWh battery pack with new LG-made high-density cells, replacing the older 79 kWh pack. Importantly, Tesla has kept prices unchanged:
- Standard Range RWD – ₹59.89 lakh (ex-showroom)
- Long Range RWD – ₹67.89 lakh (ex-showroom)
The Long Range variant also supports 250 kW fast charging, capable of adding up to 267 km in just 15 minutes.
Performance Specs: Still Quick, Still Fun
Despite the battery upgrade, performance remains familiar:
- 0–100 km/h: 5.6 seconds (Long Range) / 5.9 seconds (Standard)
- Top Speed: 201 km/h (both variants)
- Charging Speeds: 250 kW (Long Range) / 175 kW (Standard)
- Range: 661 km (Long Range) / 500 km (Standard)
This makes the Model Y a strong blend of practicality and performance for Indian buyers.
