Tata Sierra ICE vs Mahindra XEV 9S EV: Classic Comeback Meets Electric Future
Two of India’s most anticipated SUVs — the Tata Sierra ICE and the Mahindra XEV 9S EV — are set to redefine opposite ends of the SUV spectrum. While the Sierra marks Tata’s nostalgic return to rugged, fuel-powered adventure, Mahindra’s XEV 9S represents the next leap in born-electric mobility.

The 2025 Tata Sierra ICE, launching on November 25, will feature 1.5L petrol and diesel engines (170 PS and 118 PS respectively), offering a classic 5-seater layout, dual-zone climate control, ventilated seats, and Level 2 ADAS. It stays true to its old-school SUV DNA with a bold, boxy design and a premium, tech-rich cabin.

Meanwhile, the Mahindra XEV 9S, debuting on November 27, is a 7-seater electric SUV built on the INGLO EV platform, sharing powertrains with the XEV 9e (59–79 kWh batteries, 542–656 km range, up to 286 PS). It features a triple 12.3-inch screen setup, panoramic roof, 16-speaker Harman system, and advanced ADAS tech.
In essence, the Sierra ICE appeals to purists, while the XEV 9S electrifies the premium SUV space — two different paths, one future of Indian innovation.
