Smart #6 plug-in hybrid sedan Debuts with 429 HP and 1,810 km Range
Smart, the brand once synonymous with microcars, is pushing its strategy far beyond city limits. The Smart #6 plug-in hybrid sedan (EHD) has been revealed in China, marking the automaker’s first true sedan and its largest model to date. This mid-size sedan is a significant step, moving the brand into the highly competitive segment dominated by rivals like the Tesla Model 3 and Xiaomi SU7.
The #6 looks eerily similar to other Chinese performance sedans, such as the Zeekr 007 and the Xiaomi SU7. It is positioned as a powerful Extended Hybrid Drive (EHD) model that can travel more than 1,800 kilometers (1,125 miles) on a single tank and charge.

Here is a look at the powerful new powertrain and the features that equip it for the modern EV battle.
The Performance Hybrid Powertrain
The Smart #6 plug-in hybrid sedan utilizes Geely’s advanced NordThor Hybrid 2.0 technology, prioritizing both massive range and high system output.

This hybrid system offers the security of gasoline refueling for long journeys, a major selling point in the rapidly growing EREV segment.

Design and Tech Highlights
Built on the same Geely SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform as the luxury Zeekr 007, the Smart #6 adopts a sleek, aerodynamic look that is now standard for the segment.
- Design Cues: The car features a continuous light bar design on both the front and rear, giving it a high-tech, recognizable look.
- Advanced Safety: A roof-mounted LiDAR sensor confirms advanced driver assistance capabilities, a crucial technology for competing in the Chinese smart car market.
- Sporting Features: It is equipped with an electrically adjustable rear spoiler that tucks away at low speeds, and it rides on large 19- or 20-inch rims.
The launch of the Smart #6 plug-in hybrid sedan marks a critical strategic pivot for the brand, diversifying away from its micro-car roots to target a new set of buyers who are embracing the rising popularity of high-tech, long-range electric and electrified sedans.
