Skoda & Volkswagen to Launch Two New Premium SUVs in India
Volkswagen Group’s premium brands, Skoda and Volkswagen, are set to launch two new models in India by the end of the year. The upcoming cars are among the most expensive models the companies have ever launched in India and are aimed at affluent customers. This move is part of a strategy to amplify their premium portfolio with new global models that are both powerful and feature-rich.
Skoda Octavia RS: A Performance Sedan Returns

The highly anticipated new Skoda Octavia RS is set to launch in India between mid-October and early November. This performance-oriented sedan will be imported as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) from the Czech Republic, which means it will come with a premium price tag. The car is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine that produces 261 hp and 370 Nm of torque. It can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.4 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h.
Volkswagen Tayron: The New 7-Seater SUV

The Volkswagen Tayron, which is the successor to the Tiguan Allspace, is expected to launch between mid-November and December. The Tayron is a much more significant product for the company and will be assembled in India from CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kits. It will be offered with a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine that makes 201 hp and 320 Nm of torque. The SUV is expected to come with a host of premium features, including a 12.9-inch touchscreen and 9 airbags.
Here is a quick comparison of the two upcoming models:

Pricing and Market Position
The Skoda Octavia RS is expected to be priced around Rs 55 lakh, while the Volkswagen Tayron could be priced around Rs 45 lakh. The Octavia RS will be positioned as a more accessible alternative to luxury sedans like the BMW 330i M Sport, while the Tayron will compete with other premium SUVs in the market. With these two new models, both companies are looking to expand their presence in the premium segment and attract a new set of buyers.
