Renault Celebrates a Decade of Kwid in India with Special 10th Anniversary Edition and Refreshed Lineup

Renault India is marking a significant milestone: ten years of its popular Kwid in the Indian market. To commemorate this decade of success, the French automaker has launched a special 10th Anniversary Edition and introduced a refreshed, restructured Kwid lineup. The Kwid has been a key player in the small car segment, admired for its SUV-inspired design and affordability, and these new updates aim to further solidify its appeal.

Exclusive 10th Anniversary Edition: Limited to 500 Units

The highlight of the celebration is the Kwid 10th Anniversary Edition, a limited-production model with only 500 units available. Based on the Techno trim, this special edition carries a price tag of ₹5.14 lakh (manual) and ₹5.63 lakh (AMT) (ex-showroom). It boasts distinctive exterior enhancements, including dual-tone shades like Fiery Red with a Black roof and Shadow Grey with a Black roof—making it India’s most affordable car to offer such a finish. Unique decals, black Flex wheels, and a vibrant yellow grille insert further differentiate it.

Interior Styling and Enhanced Features

The celebratory theme extends to the interior of the 10th Anniversary Edition, featuring mustard yellow accents on the seats, steering wheel, infotainment surround, and door trims. Practical and unique additions include illuminated scuff plates and puddle lamps, adding a touch of premium feel to the cabin. These aesthetic and functional tweaks ensure the special edition stands out, offering exclusive styling for its discerning owners.

Restructured Kwid Range and Beefed-Up Safety

Beyond the limited edition, Renault has revamped the entire Kwid range with a new variant nomenclature: ‘Evolution’ replaces RXL, ‘Techno’ takes over from RXT, and ‘Climber’ remains the top trim. Crucially, safety features have been significantly enhanced across the board. All variants now come standard with three-point seatbelts for every seat, while the top-spec Climber variant gains six airbags, offering superior protection. This move reinforces Renault’s commitment to passenger safety.

Aggressive Pricing and Unchanged Powertrain

Despite the enhancements, Renault maintains aggressive pricing for the Kwid. The range starts at an accessible ₹4.29 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base Authentic MT variant and goes up to ₹5.99 lakh for the fully loaded Climber AMT DT. The AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) option, available from ₹4.99 lakh, continues to be one of the most budget-friendly automatic offerings in India. Under the hood, the familiar and reliable 1.0-liter three-cylinder SCe gasoline engine remains unchanged, delivering 67 bhp of maximum power and 91 Nm of peak torque, paired with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT.

Renault India’s Commitment

Commenting on the launch, Venkatram Mamillapalle, Managing Director, Renault India, highlighted the Kwid’s role in the company’s journey, “redefining the entry segment with its innovation, accessibility, and over 95% localisation.” He emphasized that the 10th Anniversary Edition celebrates “a decade of customer trust and our commitment to delivering high-value mobility solutions.” This launch also follows recent price reductions by Renault due to GST adjustments, further enhancing its value proposition.
