Renault Confirms Duster Comeback – Official Reveal on Republic Day 2026

The wait is finally over. Renault has officially confirmed the Renault Duster comeback, with the new-generation SUV set to be unveiled in India on January 26, 2026. After months of speculation, the legendary nameplate is returning to reclaim its place in one of the country’s most competitive SUV segments.
A Legend Returns

When the first-gen Duster debuted in India back in 2012, it reshaped the midsize SUV market. Affordable pricing, rugged styling, and reliable performance helped Renault sell more than two lakh units in India and nearly 1.8 million units worldwide.
Now, Renault is betting big on the Duster again. As part of its ‘International Game Plan 2027’, the company will not only relaunch the Duster but also introduce a seven-seater SUV and an A-segment EV in the near future.
Tough Segment to Crack
The midsize SUV space today is more crowded than ever. The Hyundai Creta continues to dominate, but rivals from Maruti Suzuki, Kia, Mahindra, Tata, Toyota, MG, Honda, VW, and Skoda make it one of the fiercest battlegrounds in the Indian auto market.
This segment accounts for one-fourth of India’s passenger vehicle sales, which makes the Renault Duster comeback a strategically critical move for the French automaker.
What to Expect from the New Renault Duster

While official details are scarce, Renault has confirmed that the SUV will feature a modern design, advanced technology, and improved performance while still retaining its iconic rugged DNA.
Expect connected car tech, ADAS safety features, multiple powertrain options including turbo-petrol and hybrid, and a design that blends muscular proportions with contemporary styling.
Speaking about the return, Stephane Deblaise, CEO Renault Group India, said:

“Renault Duster is more than just a name – it’s a true legend. A symbol of adventure, reliability and innovation, its comeback shows our commitment to the Indian market and our desire to offer vehicles that meet the needs of our customers.”
Conclusion
With the Renault Duster comeback scheduled for Republic Day 2026, the brand is preparing for one of its most important launches in recent years. By combining nostalgia with modern upgrades, Renault hopes the Duster can once again disrupt the midsize SUV market in India.
The big question now is whether the new Duster can replicate the magic of its predecessor in today’s ultra-competitive SUV space.
