Polestar 7 Aims to Attract More Women, as Firm Plans Rapid Expansion

Polestar, the Swedish electric car brand, is making a bold move to broaden its appeal. According to CEO Michael Lohscheller, the company’s next model, the Polestar 7, is being designed to attract more female customers. Speaking at the Munich motor show, Lohscheller was open about the brand having “many more male customers” and believes that the Polestar 7, a compact SUV, will be instrumental in changing that, as women are “influential” in car-buying decisions.

A New Strategy for a Smaller, More Accessible EV

The Polestar 7 has been fast-tracked and is set to arrive in 2028. Lohscheller said that while the new Polestar 5 will be the brand’s halo car, he wants to make sure people can “grow into the brand.” The Polestar 7 will be the smallest and most affordable model yet, though it won’t be a budget car. It will sit between the Volvo EX30 and EX40 in size and will be an incremental model, not a replacement for the popular Polestar 2.

A European-Made Polestar

The Polestar 7 will be a historic model for the brand in another way: it will be the first Polestar car to be produced in Europe. It will be built at a new Volvo factory in Kosice, Slovakia. This is a significant change from the brand’s current strategy, where it has four cars on four different platforms. The Polestar 7 will be produced on a common Geely/Volvo platform, which will help simplify production and improve efficiency.

Here is a summary of the key details about the upcoming Polestar 7:
