Maruti Victoris: A First for ADAS, But with a Catch

Maruti has made a big move with the launch of its new Victoris SUV, which is the first-ever Maruti to feature an advanced Level 2 ADAS suite. The SUV starts at Rs 10.50 lakh, making it a competitive new player in the market. However, a closer look reveals that this Maruti Victoris ADAS is not available across all variants.

The Maruti Victoris ADAS Feature is Not for Everyone

For those who want the ADAS safety package, their options are limited. The system is only available on select petrol variants with the 1.5-litre smart hybrid engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission. This means you won’t find Maruti Victoris ADAS on any of the manual, strong hybrid, or CNG variants of the Victoris.

A Strategic Pricing Decision

This might seem surprising, especially for the top-of-the-line strong hybrid variants, but it’s likely a strategic move by Maruti. The company is trying to keep the overall price range attractive to new buyers. Adding ADAS to the already expensive strong hybrid variants could have pushed the top-end price even higher, making it less competitive against rivals.

Impressive Safety and Technology

The ADAS package includes a number of advanced features to keep you safe, such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control. Beyond ADAS, the Victoris has also earned a perfect 5-star safety rating in both the Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP crash tests, confirming its strong safety credentials.

Pricing and Market Position for Maruti Victoris ADAS

The most affordable ADAS-equipped variant is the Victoris ZXi+ AT 2WD, which starts at Rs 17.19 lakh. The top-end ADAS model, the ZXi+ (O) AT 4WD AllGrip, is priced at Rs 19.22 lakh. The Victoris is now a direct competitor to other SUVs with ADAS in its segment, including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Honda Elevate.
