Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for its biggest launch of the year with the debut of the eVitara, the company’s first-ever electric vehicle, set to arrive in India by December 2025. Unveiled at the 2025 Auto Expo (Bharat Mobility Expo), the eVitara marks the beginning of Maruti Suzuki’s electric mobility journey.

This electric SUV has already attracted global attention, with the first batch of 2,900 made-in-India units shipped abroad earlier this year. The eVitara will also spawn a Toyota counterpart, expected as the Urban Cruiser EV, which will be produced at the same Gujarat facility.

Made in India, For the World

The eVitara will be solely manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat plant, which will serve both domestic and global markets. This positions it as a significant milestone in India’s EV ecosystem and a major boost to the government’s “Make in India” initiative.

Variants and Rivals

The eVitara will be sold via Maruti’s Nexa dealerships, following the familiar trim structure: Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. Its main competitors will include:

  • MG ZS EV
  • Tata Curvv EV
  • Hyundai Creta EV
  • Mahindra BE 6

Powertrain and Battery Options

At launch, the eVitara will be front-wheel drive only, with no dual-motor versions confirmed. Buyers can choose between two battery packs:

Interior and Features

Maruti Suzuki is not holding back on features with the eVitara. The cabin feels premium and modern, packed with equipment usually reserved for higher-end cars.

  • Floating centre console
  • 2-spoke steering wheel
  • Soft-touch plastics on dashboard & doors
  • Large touchscreen infotainment
  • Digital TFT instrument cluster
  • Glass roof
  • Ventilated seats
  • Auto climate control

Despite being slightly shorter than rivals at 4.27 metres, the eVitara benefits from a 2,700 mm wheelbase, which promises generous interior space.

Outlook-Maruti Suzuki eVitara India Launch

The Maruti Suzuki eVitara could prove to be a turning point for the brand. With competitive range, feature-rich interiors, and an India-first production strategy, Maruti is set to challenge established players in the EV segment. If priced aggressively, the eVitara could quickly become one of India’s most popular electric SUVs.
