You all know that car prices are seeing a big change. After GST 2.0 rate has been reduced from 28% to 18% for sub-4 meter cars with a petrol engine under 1.2L or a diesel engine under 1.5L. This is great news because it means you can now get a lot of affordable cars at an even lower price. There is one exception: the Maruti Brezza, which doesn’t get the full benefit because its petrol engine is 1.5L. Let’s break down the savings model by model!

Toyota’s SUV Prices Are Down GST 2.0 Cuts

For the first time in a long time, Toyota has reduced the prices of its SUVs. Because of GST 2.0 the Fortuner has a price reduction of almost Rs 3.49 lakh, and the Fortuner Legender is cheaper by Rs 3.34 lakh. The Innova Crysta and Innova Hycross also see big cuts of Rs 1.8 lakh and Rs 1.16 lakh, respectively. The Vellfire is down by Rs 2.7 lakh, and the Camry Hybrid gets a Rs 1.02 lakh benefit.

Savings on Affordable Toyota Cars

You can also find great benefits on Toyota’s more affordable cars, which are rebadged versions of Maruti models. The Toyota Glanza gets a benefit of Rs 85,300, while the Taisor is cheaper by Rs 1.1 lakh. The Toyota Rumion sees a price reduction of Rs 48,700, and the Hyryder is now cheaper by Rs 65,400.

Tata Motors’ Price Cuts GST 2.0 Cuts

Tata Motors has also announced significant price drops on its models. The Nexon gets a price reduction of up to Rs 1.56 lakh. The Altroz and Tigor see price cuts of Rs 1.1 lakh and Rs 80,000, respectively. The Punch will get benefits of up to Rs 85,000, while the Curvv gets Rs 65,000 off. For their bigger SUVs, the Harrier is cheaper by Rs 1.4 lakh, and the Safari by Rs 1.45 lakh.

Mahindra’s Big Benefits After GST 2.0

Just like the Nexon, its biggest competitor, the Mahindra XUV 3XO, also sees a huge price drop of up to Rs 1.56 lakh. Both these cars benefit from the GST reduction. The Scorpio Classic gets a Rs 1.01 lakh benefit, while the Scorpio N is cheaper by up to Rs 1.45 lakh. The Thar gets a benefit of up to Rs 1.33 lakh, and the XUV 700 is cheaper by up to Rs 1.43 lakh. The Bolero and Bolero Neo also get a Rs 1.27 lakh benefit.

Kia’s Price Reductions After GST 2.0

Kia has also announced great benefits for its customers. The Seros gets a price reduction of up to Rs 1.87 lakh, and the Sonet is cheaper by up to Rs 1.64 lakh. The Seltos sees a price cut of around Rs 75,000, and the regular Carens gets a Rs 48,000 benefit, while the Carens Clavis gets around Rs 74,000 off. The biggest price drop is on the Carnival, which is now cheaper by Rs 4.5 lakh.

Hyundai’s New Prices After GST 2.0

Hyundai has also announced price cuts on its models. The Tucson gets a price reduction of up to Rs 2.4 lakh. The Venue is cheaper by up to Rs 1.24 lakh, but you should wait to buy it, as the new generation will be out in October or November. The Verna sees a Rs 60,000 price cut, and the Creta and Alcazar are cheaper by Rs 72,000 and Rs 75,000, respectively. The i20 gets Rs 98,000 off, and the Aura is cheaper by Rs 78,000. The Exter sees a Rs 89,000 price cut, and the i10 NIOS is cheaper by Rs 73,000.

Honda, Jeep, MG, Nissan, Renault, Skoda, VW, and Citroën After GST 2.0

Honda’s new Amaze is cheaper by Rs 95,000, while the Elevate gets Rs 58,000 off. Jeep’s Wrangler is cheaper by Rs 4.8 lakh. MG’s Hector is cheaper by Rs 1 lakh, and the Gloster by Rs 3 lakh. The Nissan Magnite is cheaper by Rs 1 lakh, and the Renault Kiger by Rs 95,000. Skoda’s Kushaq and Slavia see price cuts of around Rs 60,000. The VW Virtus and Taigun get Rs 67,000 and Rs 68,000 off, respectively. The Citroën C3 is cheaper by Rs 84,000.

Our take

In our opinion, this is the perfect time to buy a small diesel car, especially the Nexon and XUV 3XO, because you are getting a huge benefit.
