KTM, Aprilia & Triumph Absorb GST Hike: A Relief for Motorcycle Buyers

A major showdown is underway in the Indian motorcycle market. Following a sudden GST (Goods and Services Tax) revision on bikes above 350cc to a higher 40% slab, several top brands have made a big move to protect their customers. KTM, Aprilia, and Triumph have all chosen to absorb the extra cost, ensuring their popular models remain at pre-GST prices. This move comes at a crucial time, as the festive season is just around the corner.

KTM and Triumph Keep Prices Steady

KTM was one of the first brands to respond, confirming that its popular 390 range—including the Duke, RC, and Adventure—will remain at their current prices. By absorbing the GST hike, the brand is ensuring that enthusiasts can continue to access its high-performance bikes without a price increase. Similarly, Triumph, in partnership with Bajaj Auto, has decided to keep the prices of its 400cc family (the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X) unchanged, a critical decision to maintain its strong presence in the market.

Aprilia’s Bonus Benefits

Piaggio India, which owns the Aprilia brand, is taking its customer-first approach a step further. For the Tuono 457, the company is absorbing the full GST impact, keeping its price unchanged at ₹3,95,000. The RS 457, meanwhile, comes with an even better deal. Buyers of this sportbike will effectively save over ₹35,000 through a combination of a direct GST absorption of ₹15,000 and a complimentary quick shifter valued at ₹20,500.

Royal Enfield Takes a Different Path

While KTM, Aprilia, and Triumph have chosen to absorb the costs, Royal Enfield has taken a different approach. The company has increased the prices of its motorcycles above 350cc. Models like the Scram 440 and Guerrilla 450 will see price hikes of up to ₹18,479. The Himalayan 450 takes the steepest jump, with a price rise of up to ₹21,682, as a result of the new GST slab.

Here is a summary of how each brand is handling the GST hike:
