India-First EV: Affordability and Local Sourcing at the Core

This marks a significant milestone: They will design an Hyundai EV exclusively for Indian consumers, a first for the company. This “India-first” EV will prioritize affordability, practicality, and local sourcing, aiming to democratize electric mobility and drive wider adoption across the country. By tailoring the vehicle entirely for the local market, Hyundai aims to bridge the gap between premium imported EVs and smaller, budget-friendly options, making electric cars accessible to the mass market.

Pune Plant to Become a Global Production Powerhouse

Further solidifying India’s strategic importance, Hyundai announced a major expansion of its Pune multi-model export hub. This facility is set to contribute an additional 250,000 units to Hyundai’s global production capacity by 2030. This expansion will not only support domestic growth but also reinforce India’s status as a critical export base for Hyundai worldwide, showcasing the country’s manufacturing prowess on a global stage.

India is poised to be a major contributor to Hyundai’s global target of 5.55 million vehicle sales by 2030, with 3.3 million being electrified vehicles (including hybrids, EVs, and EREVs).
