Hyundai Kia 2025 US sales Comparison: Hyundai Leads in EVs, Sedans, and Crossovers
Hyundai and Kia have been on a roll this year, with both automakers posting strong growth in the United States. Now that November sales are tallied, the Hyundai Kia 2025 US sales comparison shows a clear leader: Hyundai. With 822,756 models sold through November, Hyundai leads Kia (777,152 vehicles), having grown at a similar pace (8% vs. 7%) but maintaining a substantial overall lead.
While Kia holds the edge in the minivan and subcompact crossover segments, Hyundai dominates the three most profitable categories—EVs, sedans, and the overall crossover market.

Here is a look at the sales figures that determine which brand America loves most.
Segment Leaders: Hyundai Dominates Volume
Hyundai maintains its advantage across the core segments that drive the U.S. market, leading in total crossover, sedan, and EV sales through the first eleven months of 2025.
| Segment | Hyundai Sales | Kia Sales | Leader |
| Total Vehicles | 822,756 | 777,152 | Hyundai |
| Crossovers | 548,211 | 492,199 | Hyundai |
| Sedans | 201,081 | 193,561 | Hyundai |
| Electric Vehicles (EV) | 59,579 | 26,220 (Listed Models) | Hyundai |
| Unique Strength | Santa Cruz Pickup (23,889) | Carnival Minivan (65,172) | Kia |
The EV Battle: Ioniq 5 vs. EV6
The most significant gap between the two brands is in the electric vehicle segment, where Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 is dramatically outperforming its Kia EV6 sibling.
| Kia EV Model | 2025 Sales | Hyundai EV Model | 2025 Sales |
| EV6 | 12,188 | Ioniq 5 | 44,760 |
| EV9 | 14,032 | Ioniq 9 | 4,809 |
| Niro EV | Unknown (Included with gas/hybrid) | Ioniq 6 | 10,019 |
| Kia Total (Listed) | 26,220 | Hyundai Total (Listed) | 59,579 |
The Ioniq 5 has sold almost four times as many units as the EV6 so far this year. Hyundai also benefits from having the Ioniq 6 electric sedan, for which Kia has no direct EV equivalent.

Crossover Sales Breakdown
While Kia has one more crossover model than Hyundai, Hyundai’s sales volume remains higher due to the strong performance of its key models like the Tucson and Santa Fe.

The only area where Kia clearly leads is in the subcompact segment (Soul and Seltos), although this could change with the announced discontinuation of the Kia Soul.
For now, Hyundai maintains its lead as America’s favorite Korean brand, easily selling more EVs, sedans, and overall crossovers than Kia.
