Hyundai Exter Facelift to Debut Next-Gen Infotainment System in 2027

Hyundai is preparing to give its popular Exter micro-SUV a mid-cycle facelift in early 2027. Along with refreshed styling, the updated Exter will become the first mass-market Hyundai in India to debut the brand’s next-generation infotainment system powered by Google’s Android Automotive OS (AAOS).

Next-Gen Infotainment – A Big Step Forward

The biggest highlight of the Exter facelift will be its dual-screen layout:

  • 12.9-inch central touchscreen (infotainment)
  • 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster (driver display)

The new infotainment system will run on Android Auto OS, enabling seamless integration of Google services like Maps, Assistant, and Play Store apps. Crucially, it will also support over-the-air (OTA) updates, keeping features up-to-date without visiting a service centre.

This move makes the Exter the first affordable mass-market car in India to adopt AAOS, a system usually seen on premium models.

Design and Mechanical Updates

While Hyundai hasn’t revealed full design details yet, the facelift is expected to get:

  • Revised bumpers
  • Updated LED DRLs and headlamps
  • Tweaked grille and alloy wheels

Mechanically, the Exter facelift will continue with its 1.2-litre petrol engine (MT and AMT options) and a factory-fitted CNG variant. No major powertrain changes are expected.

Why It Matters

The Hyundai Exter has been a strong player in the entry-level SUV segment. With this facelift, Hyundai is clearly aiming to set a new tech benchmark in the budget SUV space. By bringing AAOS and dual displays to an affordable car, Hyundai could attract a new wave of younger, tech-driven buyers.
