New Hyundai Creta Rivals Coming Soon
The Hyundai Creta, which has dominated India’s midsize SUV market for years, is about to face some serious new competition. Three new rivals are set to arrive within the next 12 to 15 months, challenging the Creta’s long-standing leadership. These upcoming SUVs are from well-known brands and are expected to bring new features and technologies to the segment.
Tata Sierra Makes a Comeback
After a two-decade absence, the Tata Sierra is making a highly anticipated return. It was recently showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo and will be available in both ICE and EV versions. The ICE model is expected to use a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine. The Sierra is also likely to feature a host of modern features, including DC fast-charging and vehicle-to-load technology in its EV variant.
Renault Duster and Nissan’s New SUV
The Renault Duster is also set to make a comeback in 2026. The new model, which will be influenced by the Dacia Bigster, will feature an upgraded design and a new turbocharged petrol engine. Renault is also preparing a strong hybrid version to compete with rivals like the Maruti Grand Vitara. Nissan is working on a new SUV, possibly named the ‘Kait,’ that will share a platform with the Duster but have its own distinct design.
Aggressive Pricing and Features
Both the new Renault Duster and the Nissan SUV will be manufactured in India with high levels of localization to ensure aggressive pricing. The Nissan model, in particular, is expected to be more feature-rich than the Duster. The new SUVs will offer a variety of powertrain options, including strong hybrids, to appeal to a wider range of customers and intensify the competition in the midsize SUV segment.
