Genesis Magma variant for every model Confirmed by Chief Creative Officer

When it comes to reinvention, the Hyundai Group is going all in on performance, not just for its mainstream division (N) but also for its luxury arm. During a media session at Circuit Paul Ricard, Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke announced that a Genesis Magma variant for every model will be introduced, completely redefining the brand as it enters its second decade.

This new policy means the Magma treatment will not be reserved only for a few halo models but will be rolled out across the entire lineup, including all EVs, sports cars, and SUVs. This ambitious strategy positions Genesis to finally compete head-to-head with Europe’s performance heavyweights.

Here is a look at the philosophy and the models slated for Magma-fication.

Magma vs. N: Luxury High Performance

Magma differentiates itself from Hyundai’s playful N division by being more focused on premium execution and refinement. The core philosophy is “Luxury with Emotion,” aimed squarely at established rivals like BMW M, Mercedes-AMG, and Audi RS.

The Rollout Plan

The Genesis Magma variant for every model strategy is already fully underway, with several key nameplates either already confirmed or recently spotted in prototype form.

  • GV60 Magma: The first production model, offering 601 horsepower (rising to 641 hp with Boost Mode) and aggressive aerodynamic upgrades.
  • GV90 Magma: A slightly camouflaged orange GV90, soon to be the brand’s flagship full-sized SUV, was spotted recently and is ripe for the Magma treatment.
  • G80 Magma: A prototype of the facelifted G80 sedan was also seen testing recently.
  • Magma GT Concept: This model has been positioned as a mid-engine supercar concept, further expanding the performance ceiling.

Donckerwolke confirmed that this aggressive rollout is Genesis’s way of broadening its appeal to global markets and making inroads into segments traditionally dominated by European performance marques. This signals a complete and sustained commitment to performance as a core brand pillar.
