Ferrari Revives the Testarossa Name with a 1,050-hp Hybrid Flagship
Ferrari has unveiled its new flagship, the 849 Testarossa, a plug-in hybrid that replaces the SF90 Stradale and revives one of the most storied names in the brand’s history. The car combines a heavily reworked twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine with three electric motors for a combined 1,036 hp, making it the most powerful production Ferrari ever. This new model is a clear signal that the company is not just embracing electrification, but using it to redefine performance.

A Leap in Performance and Technology
The 849 Testarossa is 50 hp more powerful than the SF90 and promises a blistering sub-2.3-second 0-62 mph time. The hybrid system alone provides an extra 81 bhp and 139 lb ft of torque, with a total output of 1,036 hp and 590 lb ft of torque. This is a big jump from the previous model and allows for a broader power and torque window, making the car feel even more flexible and responsive. The car also features a new FIVE system, which acts as a real-time digital twin to sharpen everything from traction control to braking.
Here is a summary of the new model’s key performance specifications:

Inspired by the Past, Built for the Future
The design of the 849 Testarossa was inspired by the sharp, geometric lines of Ferrari’s concept cars from the 1970s. The car generates an impressive 915 pounds of downforce at 155 mph, a 55-pound increase over the SF90. This is achieved through a new active rear spoiler, underbody sculpting, and extensive work on the aerodynamics. The interior has also been refined with a more ergonomic cockpit, a new HMI system, and a central “sail” layout that is a nod to the brand’s history.

Pricing, Availability, and Options
For those who want even sharper performance, the optional Assetto Fiorano package is available. This package trims 66 lbs of weight and adds a more aggressive aero kit and a stiffer suspension. The car is also available in two heritage-inspired colors, Rosso Fiammante and Giallo Ambra. While North American pricing has not been announced, the European price starts at around $540,000. Deliveries for the new 849 Testarossa are expected to begin later next year.
