Dodge Magnum revival Charger Rendering Shows How America Could Bring Back the Muscle Wagon
Blame it on SUVs and crossovers, but the large wagon situation in America is bleak. While performance versions have gained a small footing here (like the Audi RS6 Avant), the last attempt by a domestic brand was the Cadillac CTS-V wagon. Now, digital artist Kelsonik has rendered what a modern, homegrown muscle wagon could look like, showing a stunning Dodge Magnum revival Charger concept.
The (virtual) wagon is based on the new eighth-generation Charger, and it wears the body quite well—perhaps no surprise, given that the original Magnum and previous-generation Charger were the same under the skin (LX platform).

Here is a look at the design details and the high-horsepower wishlist for a proper American muscle wagon.
The Muscle Wagon Design
The rendering successfully adapts the new Charger’s aggressive aesthetic into a practical estate body style while paying homage to the original 2005–2008 model.
| Feature | Design Detail | Context/Nod to the Past |
| Foundation | New Dodge Charger (STLA Large Platform) | The LX platform also underpinned the original Magnum. |
| Front/Rear | Keeps Retro-Inspired Lighting and Front End | Shares the distinct modern look of the new Charger sedan/coupe. |
| Profile | Classic Coke-Bottle Line | A subtle design nod to the aggressive proportions of the past. |
| Roofline | Tapers Downwards Toward the Tailgate | Blends the Charger’s athleticism with functional wagon utility. |
| Fenders | Digital Alterations and Flared Arches | Suggests a high-performance variant, potentially a widebody Scat Pack or Daytona. |

The Powertrain Wishlist
As this is a product of fantasy, enthusiasts are free to dream of a V8, which many feel is essential for a true muscle wagon. The original Magnum offered a 5.7L Hemi R/T and a 6.1L Hemi SRT-8.
- Hemi V8: While Dodge initially emphasized its EV and Sixpack options, there are strong rumors that Hemi V8 engines will eventually return to the Charger lineup in late 2026, which would be a perfect fit for a top-spec Magnum.
- Sixpack Options: The twin-turbo Hurricane inline-six engines (Sixpack S.O. and H.O.) could easily serve as the powerful base engine options.
- Electrified Muscle: The Dodge Magnum revival Charger could also transplant the electrified hardware from the Charger Daytona, offering instant torque and high horsepower in a practical package.
Why Production Is Unlikely
While the performance wagon segment has gained a small footing in North America (thanks to models like the Audi RS6 and BMW M5 Touring), the truth is Stellantis is not expecting this model to enter production.
The original Dodge Magnum was discontinued in 2008 primarily because the target audience had overwhelmingly moved to crossovers and SUVs. The failure of the highly praised Cadillac CTS-V wagon reinforced the financial risk. Unless Genesis, with its new G90 Wingback Concept, manages to prove the existence of a high-volume market for large luxury wagons, this beautiful Dodge Magnum revival Charger will remain a stunning piece of digital art.
