BYD Atto 1 Arrives as Australia’s Cheapest New Car, Period
Meet Australia’s new cheapest electric vehicle (EV): the BYD Atto 1, which has launched with a game-changing starting price of just $23,990 before on-road costs.
This pint-sized electric hatchback doesn’t just secure the title of Australia’s most affordable EV—it also significantly undercuts a host of popular petrol and hybrid city cars, including the Mazda 2 and Toyota Yaris. The BYD Atto 1 (known as the Seagull in other markets) becomes BYD’s new entry-level model, slotting in $6,000 below the Dolphin.
The BYD Atto 1 will arrive in Australian showrooms in December with two variants: the Essential and the Premium.
