Brabus 800 Cabrio and XL 800 Unveiled with 788 HP V8 Power
If you thought Mercedes-Benz’s convertible options were limited, think again. Brabus has answered a question nobody asked, introducing a new pair of absurd cabriolets based on the Mercedes-AMG G63. The Brabus 800 Cabrio and Brabus XL 800 Cabrio combine open-air motoring with high-end luxury and serious off-roading capabilities.
Both creations are limited to just 50 examples worldwide. They feature a highly complex soft-top system (over 500 custom-made components) that can be lowered in just 20 seconds, completely transforming the iconic profile of the G-Class.

Here is a look at the two distinct models and their performance.
One for the Street, One for the Trail
Both versions are powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, producing 788 horsepower (800 metric horsepower) and 737 lb-ft of torque—a massive leap over the stock G63. However, their chassis hardware divides their purpose:
| Model | Ground Clearance | Wheels/Axle | 0–62 MPH (0–100 km/h) | Starting Price (Approx.) |
| 800 Cabrio | Height-Adjustable (Lowered) | 24-inch Monoblock ZM (On-road focus) | 4.0 Seconds | €761,500 (~$879,000) |
| XL 800 Cabrio | 18.9 Inches (47.9 cm) | 22-inch Monoblock Z-HD (All-terrain tires) | 4.6 Seconds | €887,600 (~$1.02 Million) |
The XL 800 derives its phenomenal ground clearance from a specialized portal-axle suspension system that lowers the hub position by 5.9 inches. This creates a stance 5.8 inches higher than a Ford Bronco Raptor, making it the ultimate open-top off-roader.

Luxury and Pricing
The interiors of both versions are stunning examples of Brabus Masterpiece craftsmanship. The 800 Cabrio features an Oxford Sand and Cairos Brown leather theme and includes an Airscarf neck-heating system. The XL 800 goes for a more striking Ravion Red leather interior with numerous exposed carbon components.
The immense cost reflects the engineering required to maintain the G-Class’s structural rigidity with the roof removed:
- The road-focused Brabus 800 Cabrio starts at approximately $879,000.
- The off-road-optimized Brabus XL 800 Cabrio, due to the cost of its portal-axle suspension, starts at over $1 Million.
The Brabus 800 Cabrio duo is an expensive answer to a question nobody asked, but it perfectly embodies Brabus’s philosophy of combining high-end luxury with untamed function.
