Bentley’s Flying Spur Shows Off a $68,000 Paint Job

Bentley has unveiled a stunning new paint finish called “Ombré by Mulliner” on a Flying Spur sedan. This unique finish, which costs an eye-watering $68,000, features a seamless color fade from one hue to another. The first sedan to receive this paint job transitions from Topaz Blue at the front to a dark Windsor Blue at the back, showcasing a new level of bespoke craftsmanship.

A Labor of Handcrafted Art

This highly exclusive paint job is a true work of art, requiring close to 60 hours of hand-blending by two expert artisans at Bentley’s Crewe factory. The painters meticulously feather the colors across the doors, roof, and sills to create a perfect transition. Since each paint behaves differently, every single Ombré Bentley is unique, ensuring that no two cars will ever look exactly the same.

More Color Options and Limitations

In addition to the Blue-to-Blue finish, Bentley currently offers two other color combinations: Sunburst Gold to Orange Flame, and Tungsten to Onyx. More pairings are expected in the future, but Mulliner avoids certain color combinations to prevent an unintended third color from appearing during the fade. This precision ensures a clean and elegant final look.

The Future of Bentley

This exclusive finish highlights Bentley’s commitment to both classic handcrafting and new-world customization. It also aligns with the brand’s “Beyond100+” strategy, which aims for an all-electric lineup by 2035. This paint job, as much about craftsmanship as color, reinforces Bentley’s position as a leader in bespoke luxury as it pushes toward a sustainable future.
