Luxury Nightmare: Bentley Recalls Continental and Flying Spur Over Fire Risk from Fuel Leak

Bentley has issued a recall for a small batch of its prestigious 2025–2026 Continental and Flying Spur models due to a potential fire risk. The recall affects just 17 vehicles in the United States, highlighting that even ultra-luxury, limited-production cars are susceptible to manufacturing flaws. The issue stems from improperly torqued bolts on the high-pressure fuel pump of Bentley’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine, which could lead to internal damage or a fuel leak in the engine bay.

The Defect and Its Origin

The root of the problem lies in a critical component supplied by Porsche, underscoring inter-brand dependencies in modern automotive manufacturing.

Affected Models: The recall impacts specific units of the Continental GT, Continental GTC, and Flying Spur from the 2025 and 2026 model years.
The Cause: Bolts securing the high-pressure fuel pump on the 4.0-liter V8 engine (EA825 unit, supplied by Porsche) were found to be improperly torqued.
The Risk: If these bolts loosen, they can cause damage or a fuel leak, significantly increasing the risk of an engine-bay fire.
Discovery and Correction: Bentley was notified by Porsche in early September and quickly initiated an investigation. The assembly process for new engines built after August 2025 has since been corrected.

What Owners Need to Know & Bentley’s Response

Bentley is taking swift action to address the safety concern and uphold its reputation for meticulous craftsmanship.

Affected Production Dates: Vehicles built between July 16, 2024, and August 20, 2025, are part of the recall.
Inspection and Repair: Bentley dealers will inspect the four bolts on the high-pressure fuel pump. If the torque is below specification, the pump and surrounding components will be replaced free of charge.
Notification Timeline: Owner notifications are scheduled to be sent out by October 27, 2025.
Repair Time: The necessary repairs are estimated to take less than two hours.
Recall Campaigns: The recall is logged as campaign number RE25/41 and NHTSA recall 25V648.
