2026 Ducati Monster Debuts with 890cc V2 Engine – Variants, Specs and Features
The Ducati Monster has always been one of the most recognisable naked street motorcycles in the world. For 2026, Ducati has given the Monster a major update with the introduction of a brand-new 890cc V2 engine, improved electronics, and sharper styling. This new iteration continues to carry forward the Monster legacy while adapting to the modern demands of performance and technology.
At the heart of the 2026 Ducati Monster sits the 890cc Testastretta V2 engine, which is already proven on the Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2. It produces 109 BHP at 9,000 rpm and 91.1 Nm of torque at 7,250 rpm, with 80 percent of the torque available between 4,000 and 10,000 rpm. This wide torque band makes the bike highly usable in both city and highway conditions, while still retaining Ducati’s signature high-revving thrill.
The motorcycle is underpinned by a lightweight aluminium monocoque chassis, which replaces the traditional trellis frame seen on earlier Monsters. This frame, coupled with a trellis subframe, reduces weight while improving rigidity. Suspension duties are handled by a 43 mm Showa upside-down fork at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock with a double-sided swingarm at the rear. Braking comes from twin 320 mm discs at the front and a 245 mm disc at the rear, supported by Ducati’s advanced braking electronics.
In terms of styling, the 2026 Ducati Monster receives several changes that make it more muscular and modern. The fuel tank and side panels have been redesigned, and the bike now comes with a dual-exhaust setup. The seat has been revised and is set at a height of 815 mm, making it accessible for a wide range of riders. Ducati will also offer two variants – the standard Monster and the Monster Plus, the latter featuring a rear seat cowl and a flyscreen for added appeal.
Technology is an area where the new Monster stands out. It features a 5-inch TFT display and is supported by a six-axis IMU that enables advanced rider aids. The motorcycle comes equipped with cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, and engine braking control. Ducati has also added convenience and performance features such as a bidirectional quickshifter, cruise control, turn-by-turn navigation and four distinct riding modes – Sport, Road, Urban and Wet – allowing riders to adapt the motorcycle’s character to their needs.
With these updates, the 2026 Ducati Monster positions itself as a more powerful, technologically advanced and better equipped naked streetfighter, directly taking on rivals like the Triumph Street Triple 765 and KTM Duke 890. While Ducati has not yet revealed official pricing, expectations are that it will command a premium over the outgoing model, particularly in markets like India where Ducati enjoys a niche following.
The Ducati Monster has always been a motorcycle that balances everyday usability with Italian performance flair, and the 2026 update ensures it remains one of the strongest names in the segment.
