Mercedes-Benz has introduced the G 450d in India, expanding the iconic G-Class lineup with a diesel variant for the first time. Priced at ₹2.9 crore (ex-showroom), the SUV is part of a limited allocation of just 50 units in the first batch.

With this launch, the G-Class in India is now available in petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains, marking a significant milestone for Mercedes-Benz’s flagship off-roader.

Powertrain & Performance

The Mercedes-Benz G 450d is powered by a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder diesel engine, paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system.

  • Output: 362 BHP & 750 Nm
  • Hybrid Boost: Up to 20 BHP additional power when required
  • Transmission: 9-speed automatic gearbox with 4MATIC all-wheel drive
  • Performance: 0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds, top speed 210 km/h

This makes the diesel-powered G-Class not only efficient but also seriously quick for a full-size luxury SUV.

G-Class in India: Petrol, Diesel & Electric

For the first time, Indian customers can now choose their G-Class in all three powertrains:

  • Petrol (G 400 / G 500 depending on market spec)
  • Diesel (G 450d)
  • All-electric (EQG)

The G 450d will compete directly with the Land Rover Defender, particularly its higher diesel trims, offering Mercedes buyers a rugged yet luxurious alternative.
