Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Launch – e Vitara Launching in December 2025

Maruti Suzuki Enters the EV Market with e Vitara

India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, is all set to enter the electric vehicle space with its first all-electric SUV, the e Vitara, scheduled for launch in December 2025. After the strong response to the recently launched Victoris SUV, Maruti aims to strengthen its premium lineup further with the e Vitara. The EV will be retailed through Nexa premium dealerships and is expected to be priced from ₹17 lakh onwards (ex-showroom), positioning it directly against Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, Harrier EV, and Mahindra XEV 9e.

Powertrain and Battery Options

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be offered with two battery pack options sourced from BYD – a 48.8 kWh pack and a 61.1 kWh pack. The smaller pack powers an electric motor delivering 144 PS and 192.5 Nm, while the larger pack comes with a more powerful motor producing 174 PS and 192.5 Nm. On a single charge, the SUV is expected to deliver a range of over 500 km, making it one of the most practical long-range EVs in its class. Thanks to DC fast charging support, the e Vitara can be charged from 0–80% in just 50 minutes.

Features and Safety Equipment

Maruti Suzuki is equipping the e Vitara with a premium feature package to match rivals. Buyers can expect a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.1-inch digital instrument console, and a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. Safety will be a strong highlight, with Level-2 ADAS features, seven airbags, 360-degree camera, and ESP with hill-hold assist included. Built on the Heartect e architecture, the e Vitara is also expected to score high on safety benchmarks like Bharat NCAP.

Global Presence Before India Launch

Production of the e Vitara began in August 2025 at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant, with exports already underway. Over 6,000 units have been shipped to markets across Europe, including the UK, Germany, France, Norway, and Sweden. In fact, Maruti Suzuki has plans to export the e Vitara to over 100 global markets, while also debuting it in India. A Toyota-badged sibling, the Urban Cruiser BEV, is also on the cards.

Conclusion: A Game-Changer for Maruti in the EV Space

With a claimed range above 500 km, powerful motor options, premium features, and competitive pricing, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is shaping up to be a strong rival in the ₹17–25 lakh EV SUV segment. Positioned against popular EVs like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Harrier EV, and MG ZS EV, the e Vitara could very well become one of the most sought-after electric SUVs in India. Its launch in December 2025 marks a significant milestone, as Maruti Suzuki finally makes its entry into the EV race.
