Tata Nexon Reigns Supreme: India’s Best-September 2025 Car Sales

The Indian car market witnessed a historic moment in September 2025, with the Tata Nexon becoming the best-selling car in India. Tata sold an astonishing 22,573 units, its highest-ever monthly sales for a single model. This milestone also helped Tata Motors achieve record sales, with the Tata Punch joining Nexon in the Top 5.

The sales figures underline a clear consumer shift – SUVs dominated the top ranks, while hatchbacks struggled despite the recent GST 2.0 tax reforms that reduced prices across segments.

  • SUVs Outshine Hatchbacks: No hatchback made it into the top 5, even with GST price cuts, showing the SUV wave continues to dominate.
  • EVs & CNG Surge: Tata also doubled its EV sales YoY and saw strong growth in CNG models, thanks to favorable GST rates.
