Kia Telluride 2027 Has A Lot To Get Right: Here’s What Might Be Coming for the Popular SUV

The Kia Telluride exploded onto the SUV scene in 2020, quickly becoming an immensely popular choice by masterfully blending a roomy, simple interior, solid powertrains, impressive tech, and an affordable price point. It delivered everything most buyers needed in a family SUV. Now, as it approaches its next generation, the 2027 Kia Telluride faces the challenge of filling big shoes and building on its strong foundation. Based on recent insights, Kia is poised to get a lot right, with promising developments already emerging.

The 2027 Kia Telluride Will Look A Lot Like The New Palisade (But with Kia Flair)

Sharing its platform and powertrains, the Telluride and the Hyundai Palisade have always been close siblings, and this tradition will continue into their next generations. Consequently, the latest Palisade offers significant clues about what to expect from the 2027 Telluride.

One of the most exciting developments is the expectation of a new hybrid Telluride, mirroring the similarly hybridized Palisade. This means the Telluride is likely to benefit from Hyundai’s 329-horsepower turbocharged hybrid drivetrain, offering a potent blend of performance and efficiency. For those preferring conventional power, the long-running 3.5-liter V6 workhorse is expected to remain the standard engine, available with both front and all-wheel drive.

Beyond powertrains, increased capability is also on the horizon. Following the Palisade’s lead, the Telluride should offer equivalent versions of Hyundai’s XRT trims, which are designed to add a touch of off-road capability. While not intended for serious rock crawling, these trims will likely feature upgraded tires and specialized all-wheel-drive software, making the Telluride a bit more adventurous.

Expect New Looks And An Updated Interior Focused on Tech and Luxury

Predictably, the 2027 Telluride will arrive with a completely refreshed aesthetic. Spy shots suggest a heavy update to both the front and rear fascias, featuring boxier and more sculpted looks upfront. It will undoubtedly mirror the Palisade’s edgy, modern design language but will be infused with a distinctive Kia flair to ensure the two models are easily distinguishable. Expect a look loosely akin to Kia’s own EV9, characterized by headlights positioned at the far edges of the bumper and reaching down towards the ground, complemented by an updated grille and intakes for the engine.

The interior changes will largely revolve around new technology and a refreshed design. Expect trim-specific adjustments to standard features, with the Telluride bringing to bear the latest in Hyundai/Kia’s advanced infotainment tech. This will likely include a pair of large screens dominating the dash, a feature expected in all but the lowest trim levels. Kia will also undoubtedly offer a luxury-oriented trim, much like Hyundai does with the Palisade, featuring high-end leathers and premium finishes to cater to discerning buyers. Furthermore, prospective owners can look forward to more room for cargo, enhancing the Telluride’s practicality. As the 2027 Telluride is still some time away, a bit of patience will be required before the finished product makes its official debut.
