Techart Just Turned the Porsche 911 Carrera T Into a 498-HP Rocket
German Porsche tuner Techart has transformed the already impressive Porsche 911 Carrera T into a 498-HP rocket, dubbed the TsportR. While the 911 Carrera T is celebrated for its purist, “less is more” approach with a standard six-speed manual, rear-wheel drive, and minimal curb weight, Techart has taken the opposite view, adding significant power, bespoke carbon aero, and a sportier exhaust system. The result is a highly customizable tuning package that, depending on the chosen equipment, can either subtly enhance the 911 T’s character or push it into more aggressive tuner territory.
More Power, Subtle Exterior Changes, and a Bog Oak Shifter
The Techart TsportR starts with substantial upgrades to the twin-turbo 3.0-liter boxer-six engine, increasing its output to an impressive 498 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque. These figures represent significant gains of 110 hp and 60 lb-ft of torque over the standard Carrera T. Techart claims this power boost will propel the TsportR from zero to 62 mph in just 3.4 seconds and from zero to 124 mph in 9.7 seconds. A new exhaust system is also part of the package, offering automatically adjustable sound based on driving conditions, with manual tuning available via steering-wheel controls.
The tuning menu is organized into four distinct equipment packages:
- Anstieg Spec (Base): Includes the aforementioned engine upgrades and a subtle carbon-fiber rear spoiler.
- Höhenmeter Spec: Adds more carbon-fiber elements, such as a Techart-designed front spoiler, side skirts, and rear diffuser. This spec also introduces a unique interior detail: a shifter crafted from carbonized and compressed wood from a thousand-year-old bog oak.
- Kurvenrausch Spec: Builds on previous specs by adding a leather-wrapped Techart steering wheel and a new center console for an enhanced driving experience.
A Balanced Approach: From Restrained to Track-Focused
The ultimate Berggipfel spec takes the TsportR into more traditional, aggressive tuner territory.
- Exterior: Features a carbon fiber roof spoiler, carbon fiber mirror caps, and a choice of two larger rear spoilers. Options include a classic ducktail reminiscent of the iconic Carrera RS or a larger, more aggressive GT3-like version. The latter, according to Techart, generates “noticeable downforce” while shedding 5.2 pounds.
- Interior: Continues the carbon fiber theme with additional accents and retains the distinctive wooden shifter.
Techart has not yet disclosed pricing or United States availability for the TsportR. However, this package presents an appealing option for those seeking a turnkey tuning solution for the 992.2 911 Carrera T. By using one of the best-balanced and most enthusiast-friendly 911 models as its foundation, Techart appears to have successfully enhanced performance without compromising the car’s fundamental premise of driving purity. This balanced approach helps the TsportR stand out from other, more extreme aftermarket offerings, offering a compelling blend of power, aesthetics, and retained driving dynamics.
