Toyota Sales Garners Over 31,000 Unit In Sep 2025, Thanks To GST Reforms
Bengaluru, India – Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) reported an impressive sales performance in September 2025, recording a total tally of 31,091 units. This represents a 16% increase compared to the same month last year, largely propelled by favorable market conditions following the implementation of GST 2.0 reforms and the onset of the festive season. Domestic sales accounted for 27,089 units, with exports contributing a robust 4,002 units, indicating growing international demand for locally manufactured Toyota vehicles.
Strong Half-Year Performance Driven by Badge-Engineered Products
TKM’s first-half performance for FY26 (April to September 2025) has also been encouraging. The company sold a total of 184,959 vehicles, marking a 14% increase over the 162,623 units dispatched during the same period in the previous fiscal. This consistent growth is significantly buoyed by the increasing acceptance of Toyota’s volume-based badge-engineered products, which have expanded its reach in the Indian market.
GST 2.0 Reforms and Price Reductions Boost Demand
The primary catalyst behind these impressive sales figures is the implementation of GST 2.0 reforms, which led to significant price drops across Toyota’s vehicle range. By passing on the full benefits of these reforms to customers, TKM effectively lowered prices, providing an added incentive for buyers during the early festive season.
Notable price reductions include:
- Glanza: Up to INR 85,300.
- Urban Cruiser Taisor: Up to INR 1,11,100.
- Rumion MPV: Up to INR 48,700.
- Urban Cruiser Hyryder: Up to INR 65,400.
- Innova Hycross: Up to INR 1,15,800.
- Innova Crysta: Benefits the most among MPVs with a reduction of up to INR 1,80,600.
- Hilux pickup: Dropped by up to INR 2,52,700.
- Fortuner: Now cheaper by a substantial INR 3,49,000.
- Fortuner Legender: Follows closely with a cut of INR 3,34,000.
- Camry Hybrid: Prices reduced by INR 1,01,800.
- Vellfire: Received one of the biggest benefits of up to INR 2,78,000.
Product Updates and Brand Building Initiatives
Beyond the price reductions, TKM has also been active on the product front. The updated Toyota Rumion made headlines last month by now offering six airbags as standard across all variants, significantly enhancing its safety features.
Varinder Wadhwa, Vice President of Sales, Service, and Used Cars at TKM, commented on the performance: “Thanks to the landmark GST reforms by the Government of India and the onset of the festive season, market sentiments have been upbeat. At TKM, we have passed on the full benefits of GST to our customers, which has further boosted demand across our portfolio. With the festive season gathering momentum, we are confident of a strong performance ahead.”
Additionally, TKM engaged in various marketing and brand-building initiatives, including an association with Japan’s globally acclaimed performance group, DRUM TAO, as brand ambassadors, adding a new dimension to Toyota’s image in India.
