Tata Motor Car Sales Sep 2025: Highest Ever Monthly Sales at 59,667 Units, up 45% YoY and MoM
Mumbai, India – Tata Motors has achieved a remarkable milestone in September 2025, reporting its highest-ever monthly passenger vehicle (PV) sales at 60,907 units. This represents a robust 47.4% year-on-year (YoY) growth compared to 41,313 units sold in September 2024. The stellar performance was fueled by strong festive demand, benefits from GST 2.0 price revisions, and a rapidly expanding electric vehicle (EV) portfolio.
Passenger Vehicle Sales Soar: EVs Lead the Charge
Domestic PV sales reached 59,667 units, marking a significant 45.3% YoY increase. Exports also saw an exponential jump, recording 1,240 units, a staggering 396% rise over the 250 units exported in September 2024.
Electric vehicles continued to be the standout performers, nearly doubling their sales with 9,191 units sold, a 96.4% increase compared to 4,680 units in the same month last year. On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, Tata Motors also demonstrated solid growth, with PV sales rising by 45.3% and volumes increasing by 18,602 units compared to August 2025 (41,065 units).
For the second quarter of FY26 (July-September 2025), Tata Motors clocked 144,397 PV units, up 10.4% YoY. Domestic PV sales contributed 140,189 units (up 7.9%), while exports surged by an astonishing 411% to 4,208 units. EVs were once again a highlight, with 24,855 units sold in Q2 FY26, a strong 58.9% jump from 15,642 units in the same quarter last year. This consistent growth across both ICE and EV portfolios underscores rising demand.

Commercial Vehicle Sales Also Show Robust Growth
Tata Motors’ Commercial Vehicle (CV) division also registered strong numbers in September 2025, selling a total of 35,862 CV units. This marks a 19% YoY growth over 30,032 units sold in September 2024. Domestic CV sales rose to 33,148 units (up 16% YoY), while international business (CV exports) almost doubled with 2,714 units, a sharp 94% jump.
CV Segment Breakdown (September 2025):
- HCV Trucks: 9,870 units (up 6% YoY)
- ILMCV Trucks: 6,066 units (up 13% YoY)
- Passenger Carriers: 3,102 units (flat vs. last year)
- SCV Cargo & Pickup: 14,110 units (strong growth, up 30% YoY)
For Q2 FY26, Tata Motors’ CV sales stood at 94,681 units, reflecting a 12% growth compared to 84,281 units in Q2 FY25. Domestic CV sales were 87,061 units (up 9%), and exports rose sharply by 75% to 7,620 units. Medium, Heavy, and Intermediate Commercial Vehicle (MH&ICV) sales also gained momentum.
The company’s overall growth trajectory, combined with GST 2.0 price revisions making cars more affordable, positions Tata Motors for even stronger performance as the festive season continues in the coming months.
