Jeep Recalls 123,000 Wagoneer & Grand Wagoneer SUVs Over Trim Pieces Flying Off at Speed

Jeep has announced a recall affecting over 123,000 units of its 2022–2024 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) flagged a safety concern regarding quarter window trim pieces that were not correctly secured at the factory. This issue, while not catastrophic, poses a potential road hazard as the trim can detach and fly off at highway speeds.

Models Affected and the Potential Risks

The recall specifically covers 91,202 Wagoneer models and 32,194 Grand Wagoneer models. The faulty parts were supplied by Fuyao Automotive North America. The primary concern is that if these trim pieces detach, they could become dangerous projectiles, potentially hitting other vehicles or causing drivers to swerve, thereby increasing the risk of accidents.

While owners might notice the trim starting to peel away before it completely detaches, there are no other obvious alerts. So far, Jeep has logged over 1,700 warranty claims and several service and customer reports related to the issue, though thankfully, no accidents or injuries have been reported to date.

This trim recall adds to a series of challenges for Stellantis, Jeep’s parent company, including a recent cybersecurity breach. While less severe than recalls for fuel pump failures leading to fires (as seen with some Porsche, Lamborghini, and Audi models), this quality issue comes at an inopportune time for Jeep, as its U.S. sales figures have been steadily declining. Such quality concerns do not aid the brand’s recovery plan.

What Owners Should Do

Jeep is taking steps to inform affected owners and rectify the issue:

  • Dealers will be notified on October 2, 2025.
  • Recall letters will be mailed to owners between November 14 and November 19, 2025.
  • Starting October 2, 2025, owners can also check if their SUV is included in the recall by plugging their VIN into the Mopar recall website or the NHTSA’s database.

Although the specific remedy has not yet been finalized, it is expected that an improved replacement part will be offered and installed free of charge. Owners of 2022–2024 Wagoneer or Grand Wagoneer models are advised to monitor their quarter window trim for any signs of loosening or peeling.
