The New Kia Stonic: A Crossover That’s Ready to Be Noticed
Let’s be honest, the Kia Stonic was a car that many of us may have forgotten about. But not anymore! Kia has thoroughly updated its baby crossover, giving it a complete refresh that makes it a strong contender in the highly competitive segment. The updated Stonic is now more in line with the brand’s latest design language, with a fresh new look inside and out. It’s ready to take on rivals like the Ford Puma and Peugeot 2008 with a renewed sense of style and purpose.
A Fresh, Modern Design
The biggest change to the new Stonic is its design. It now looks more like its newer siblings, from the latest Sportage to the electric EV3 and EV4. It gets all-new headlights, chunky bumpers, and funky new wheel designs. The top-end GT-Line versions get even more specific design elements. Inside, the car has a modern new steering wheel and an updated infotainment system, but it still has plenty of physical buttons and switches, which is a welcome feature for many drivers.
Updated Tech and Engine Options
The Stonic has also received some key tech upgrades, including wireless charging and new driver-assistance tech to help it get top crash test ratings. It also comes with app-based features that allow you to use your phone as a key. As for engines, Kia has decided against making the Stonic electric, acknowledging that the “pace of electrification” varies. It will be offered with a 1.0-liter turbo three-cylinder engine with 98 bhp and a mild-hybrid version of the same engine with 113 bhp.
Here is a summary of the engine options:
Engine Type | Power | Torque | Transmission |
1.0-liter Turbo | 98 bhp | 172 Nm | 6-speed Manual or 7-speed DCT |
1.0-liter Mild-Hybrid | 113 bhp | 200 Nm | 7-speed DCT |
