Toyota Sales Breakup August 2025: Hyryder and HyCross Lead, But MoM Decline Raises Questions

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has reported a mixed sales performance for August 2025. While the company saw a 2.49% YoY growth in sales to 29,302 units, it also experienced a 9.29% MoM decline. The sales report shows that the company’s two midsize SUVs, the Hyryder and HyCross, have emerged as the top two bestsellers, with strong growth. However, sales of other key models saw a decline, as buyers were likely waiting for the new GST 2.0 norms to take effect.

Hyryder and HyCross Dominate the Charts

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder and the Innova HyCross were the stars of Toyota’s sales performance in August. The Hyryder sold a robust 9,100 units, a massive 39.27% YoY increase, and held a strong 31.06% share of the company’s total sales. The HyCross also performed well, with a 11.29% YoY growth to 5,827 units. This strong performance from the company’s SUV lineup shows a clear shift in consumer preference toward the high-riding body style.

Mixed Results for Other Popular Models

While the SUVs performed well, other popular models saw mixed results. The Toyota Glanza continued its strong performance, with a 10.34% YoY growth to 5,102 units. However, the Innova Crysta saw a YoY decline to 3,477 units, though its sales improved on a MoM basis. The Toyota Rumion, a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, saw a massive 96.05% YoY decline in sales to just 68 units, indicating a lack of appeal among buyers.

Looking Ahead to the Festive Season

The MoM decline in sales for models like the Fortuner and Camry can be attributed to buyers waiting for the new GST rates to take effect. Now that prices have been revised, sales are expected to improve significantly. Toyota will be looking to capitalize on the festive season and the positive buying sentiments that generally prevail among customers during this time. The company’s sales report for the coming months will be a clear indicator of how the new GST norms have impacted the market.
