Skoda Kodiaq Lounge: New 5-Seater Entry-Level Variant Launched in India!

Skoda India has just made its premium SUV, the Kodiaq, more accessible with the launch of a new entry-level variant: the Kodiaq Lounge 5-seater. Priced at ₹39.99 lakhs (ex-showroom), this new trim is strategically positioned below the existing Sportline and Laurin & Klement (L&K) variants, aiming to attract a wider range of buyers looking for a blend of luxury, space, and performance without the need for seven seats.

Spacious 5-Seater Design with Massive Boot

The most significant change in the Kodiaq Lounge is its configuration as a 5-seater. By ditching the third row, Skoda has unlocked an enormous 786-liter boot capacity, making it incredibly practical for those who prioritize luggage space over extra passenger capacity. This massive boot is ideal for families, adventurers, or anyone needing ample cargo room for long trips. The interior, while slightly reconfigured, retains the Kodiaq’s renowned quality and comfort.

Design Tweaks and Feature Set

Visually, the Kodiaq Lounge gets exclusive new 18-inch Mazeno alloy wheels that give it a fresh appeal. It will be available in a limited palette of three color options, distinguishing it from its higher-end siblings. Inside, it features a slightly smaller 10.4-inch infotainment system (compared to the larger screen in higher trims), paired with a capable 9-speaker audio system. While it might miss some of the absolute top-tier features of the L&K, it still offers a premium experience that aligns with the Kodiaq’s reputation.

Uncompromised Performance with AWD

Under the hood, the Kodiaq Lounge retains the heart of the existing Kodiaq lineup. It is powered by the same potent 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, delivering a robust 204 HP (Horsepower). This engine is mated to Skoda’s capable All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system, ensuring strong performance, confident handling, and traction across various road conditions. This means buyers of the entry-level variant won’t have to compromise on the Kodiaq’s signature driving dynamics.

Strategic Positioning in the Premium SUV Segment

The introduction of the Kodiaq Lounge is a clever move by Skoda. It allows the brand to tap into a segment of buyers who desire the Kodiaq’s premium feel, powerful engine, and spaciousness, but don’t necessarily need the third row of seats and prefer a slightly more accessible price point. This new variant positions the Kodiaq more competitively against other premium 5-seater SUVs while still offering the distinct European luxury and driving experience that Skoda is known for.
