BYD U9 Xtreme EV: The New King of Speed!

The world of supercars has a new champion, and it’s electric. BYD, the Chinese automaker, has just shattered the record for the fastest production car in the world with its new BYD U9 Xtreme EV. The car hit a verified top speed of 496 km/h (308 mph) at Germany’s ATP proving grounds, officially beating the Bugatti Chiron’s record of 304.77 mph. This is a monumental achievement that proves electric cars are not just a sustainable future, but also the future of extreme performance.

Unmatched Power and Engineering

The BYD U9 Xtreme is a technological marvel. It is powered by a mind-blowing 2,978 hp from a system of four electric motors, with each motor spinning at a maximum of 30,000 RPM. This incredible power is delivered through a new 1,200V platform, which is the first of its kind in a mass-produced car. The motors are made from a super-thin 0.1mm silicon steel, a first in mass production, which contributes to its insane performance and efficiency.

The LFP Blade Battery: A Game Changer

At the heart of the U9 Xtreme is a track-grade 80 kWh LFP Blade Battery. This innovative battery, a first for a car of this caliber, features a special dual-layer cooling system that improves thermal management under extreme conditions. The density of each cell has also been increased by a massive 170% compared to the lower-trim U9 800V system, allowing the battery to handle a 30C discharge rate for maximum power delivery without compromising its longevity.

Lightning-Fast Charging and a Launch Timeline

The BYD U9 Xtreme is not just fast on the road; it’s also fast at the charging station. It supports a charging speed of up to 500 kW, which means you can get back on the road in no time. While the car’s design and interior have not been fully revealed, it is expected to be a sleek and modern supercar. The launch timeline and expected price are still under wraps, but it is expected to be a direct rival to other electric hypercars from brands like Rimac and Lotus.
