The New Mahindra Thar Facelift is Coming With Big Upgrades
The popular Mahindra Thar (3-door) SUV is getting a major facelift, and it’s set to arrive in the coming weeks. While the exact launch date is still under wraps, the updated model is expected to hit showrooms in the latter half of September 2025. The new Thar has been spotted testing multiple times, and the details that have emerged suggest that this will be a significant upgrade that makes the rugged off-roader even more modern and appealing.

New Look Inspired by the Thar Roxx
The overall design of the new Mahindra Thar will take cues from its more premium sibling, the Thar Roxx. The front will feature a heavily revised grille with new double-stacked slats, redesigned headlamps, and a tweaked bumper. The changes don’t stop there; the facelifted model will also get new alloy wheels and redesigned taillamps, which will give it a fresh and updated look from the rear.

A Tech-Packed Interior
The inside of the new Thar will see some of the biggest changes. It’s set to borrow a number of features from the Thar Roxx, including a new electric steering wheel and a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen. It will also get premium features like a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, and Level-2 ADAS. This makes the new Thar not only a more comfortable ride but also a much safer one, bringing it on par with modern SUVs.
Engines Remain Unchanged
Under the hood, the new Mahindra Thar will stick to its winning formula. It will continue to be powered by the same three engine options: the powerful 2.0L turbo petrol, the efficient 1.5L turbo diesel, and the capable 2.2L turbo diesel. This means buyers will still have a choice of both RWD and 4WD options, ensuring that the new Thar retains its legendary off-road capability.
