New Kia Seltos Hybrid Spotted: What We Know So Far
The next-generation Kia Seltos has been spotted testing in Europe, and it’s coming with an exciting new option: a hybrid powertrain. While the new-gen Seltos is expected to be unveiled later this year and launched in India by early 2026, the hybrid version is likely to be a bit of a wait for Indian buyers, possibly arriving around 2027-28. The new design borrows cues from Kia’s latest SUVs, giving it a much more modern and boxy look.

A Striking New Design and Features
Even though the test car was heavily covered, we can see some major design changes. The new Seltos will get all-new LED headlights and LED DRLs that blend vertical and horizontal light bars for a sharp, dynamic look. It will also feature a new grille with honeycomb elements and a boxier design. The new Seltos is expected to be a little longer, which will give it a better road presence and more interior space.
The new Seltos is expected to be around 4,315-4,385 mm long, positioning it perfectly between the Stonic and the Niro in the European market.

Two Different Powertrains
The new Seltos hybrid will have different engine options depending on the market. In Europe, it is expected to get a 1.6-liter GDi petrol engine with a 32-kW electric motor, producing a combined 141 hp and 265 Nm of torque. This is a very efficient and powerful setup. For India, the hybrid version is likely to use a 1.5-liter petrol engine in a front-wheel-drive (FWD) format, with an e-AWD system being unlikely due to cost.

Competition and Market Position
In Europe, the new Seltos hybrid could be a serious competitor to the new Renault Duster hybrid 4×4, which offers a massive driving range. In India, when it eventually launches, the Seltos hybrid will go head-to-head with the Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder. The combination of Kia’s design, a hybrid powertrain, and a larger size will make it a formidable opponent in the highly competitive midsize SUV segment.
