First Tesla Model Y Delivered in India

A historic moment for electric vehicles in India! Maharashtra’s Transport Minister, Pratap Sarnaik, has taken delivery of the very first Tesla Model Y in the country. This exciting event took place at Tesla’s new showroom in Mumbai, marking the start of a new chapter for the brand in India.

A Personal Statement

The minister’s purchase is more than just a new car; it’s a statement. He explained that he paid the full amount and intends to use the car to drop his grandson at school. This personal act is meant to encourage more people, especially the younger generation, to learn about and embrace EVs (Electric Vehicles).

Pricing and Variants

The Tesla Model Y comes in two main versions for the Indian market: the standard RWD (Rear-Wheel Drive) and a long-range RWD. The prices are ₹59.89 lakh and ₹67.89 lakh, respectively. It’s not clear which variant the minister chose, but both models offer a blend of performance and cutting-edge technology.

Impressive Performance and Range

Performance is impressive, with the RWD version providing a WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure) range of up to 500 km on a full charge, while the long-range model extends that to 622 km. Both versions are powered by a single electric motor, ensuring a smooth and powerful ride.

Tech-Packed Interior

Inside, the car is a tech lover’s dream. It features a massive 15.4-inch infotainment screen, with an additional 8-inch screen for rear passengers. Other premium features include a panoramic glass roof, power-adjustable front seats, and dual-zone climate control. With multiple color options and OTA (Over-The-Air) software updates, the Model Y is designed to feel both futuristic and personalized.
