Audi has announced several key hardware, software, and feature updates for five of its core models: the A5, Q5, A6, A6 e-tron, and Q6 e-tron. The Audi A6 Q5 A5 updates apply to both combustion (PPC) and all-electric (PPE) platforms, ensuring the vehicles remain optimized throughout their life cycle.

This comprehensive rollout includes permanent changes, such as the reintroduction of physical controls, demonstrating that Audi has been actively listening to customer feedback regarding its interior interfaces. Although these updates apply to the German market now, they are expected to reach the U.S. in the near future.

Usability Fixes and Tech Enhancements

The most significant change addresses past criticism regarding Audi’s over-reliance on touch-sensitive controls.

Performance and ADAS Improvements

Audi is keen to continuously optimize both its gas and electric platforms, adding performance and advanced convenience features.

  • Dynamic Plus Mode: Available on the S5 and S6 e-tron, this mode delivers sharp responses from the throttle, enhanced traction, and controlled drifts. It uses brake torque vectoring that works with the quattro sport differential (S5) or the electric quattro AWD system (S6 e-tron).
  • Driver-Initiated Lane Changes: The improved adaptive cruise assist system now supports driver-initiated lane changes on the highway by automatically steering the car into the desired lane.
  • Trained Parking: The expanded Park Assist Pro system can recognize and save five unique parking maneuvers of up to 200 meters, then perform them autonomously.

A6 Lighting and US Regulation Hurdles

The A6 specifically receives new digital matrix LED headlights with micro-LED technology. These provide exceptional illumination and can be customized with a unique lighting signature when entering and exiting the car. Unfortunately, this advanced headlight technology is still illegal in the United States, meaning U.S.-spec models will likely remain without this upgrade until America’s antiquated regulations are updated.
