Ram Free Agent Program NASCAR Opens No. 25 Seat to New Talent

Fans of NASCAR are in for a treat. As part of Ram’s highly anticipated return to the Craftsman Truck Series in 2026, the company has announced an innovative new initiative. The Ram Free Agent Program NASCAR will offer individuals from different motorsport disciplines an opportunity to pilot the No. 25 Kaulig Ram 1500 truck.

The truckmaker is looking for fresh faces to join its anchor team, Kaulig Racing, alongside full-time drivers Brenden “Butterbean” Queen, Daniel Dye, and Justin Haley. This program is designed to inject energy and fresh storylines into the series by celebrating and amplifying fan engagement.

Here is a closer look at the program mechanics and how interested racers can apply.

The Catch: Chasing Prizes, Not Points

It is important for potential applicants to note that Free Agent drivers are not eligible to compete for the Craftsman Truck Series championship points.

Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis made it clear that the mission is focused on fan engagement: “No. 25 isn’t chasing points; we are chasing something bigger, celebrating and amplifying fan engagement with the Free Agents, Kaulig Racing, and the Ram brand. That’s the sole mission.”

However, there is a strong incentive: Ram will create a separate prize program. Whoever among the Free Agent drivers posts the best individual track performance during the season will be awarded a prize incentive, ensuring every race carries high stakes for those behind the wheel of the No. 25 Ram.

A Bold New Idea

Ram’s Ram Free Agent Program NASCAR is built on the idea of letting fans “live vicariously through these people.” Team owner Matt Kaulig stated that the program gives the team the “flexibility to bring in talent while keeping fans on their toes.”

This initiative promises to make the 2026 Craftsman Truck Series unpredictable and exciting, potentially drawing new audiences to the series. The approval process is rigorous, prioritizing safety and credibility, but it offers a rare opportunity for racers outside the usual NASCAR pipeline to make their mark on a national stage.
