The 2027 Kia Telluride debut Reveals New Turbo Engine and 600-Mile Hybrid
Kia has officially debuted the 2027 Telluride at the 2025 Los Angeles Auto Show, and the second generation is a significant overhaul. The 2027 Kia Telluride debut confirms a new standard powertrain that is a major departure from the old V6, focusing instead on turbo power and class-leading efficiency, with a new efficient hybrid option.
The new model is larger, boasts better aerodynamics, and introduces the brand’s latest technologies, including massaging seats and streaming entertainment. The move away from the V6 is one of the most significant changes, but with more torque and a massive boost in efficiency, it’s an improvement overall.

Here is a look at the key technical and luxurious upgrades coming when the Telluride goes on sale in Q1 2026.
Powertrain Shift: Turbo and Hybrid
The new Telluride has dropped the old 3.8L V6 in favor of a new 2.5-liter turbo-four engine. This move immediately distinguishes it from its cousin, the Hyundai Palisade, which retains its V6.
| Powertrain | Engine | Horsepower / Torque | Transmission / Range |
| Standard | 2.5L Turbo-Four | 274 hp / 311 lb-ft | 8-speed Auto / 5,000 lbs Tow |
| New Hybrid | 2.5L Turbo-Four Hybrid | 329 hp / 339 lb-ft | 6-speed Auto / 600-mile range / 35 mpg |
| Outgoing (Old) | 3.8L V6 (Non-Hybrid) | 291 hp / 262 lb-ft | 8-speed Auto / 22 mpg combined |
While standard power is down by 17 hp, the 311 lb-ft of torque is a substantial increase over the old V6. More importantly, the new hybrid option offers massive output and a 600-mile driving range, a figure the older Telluride could never deliver.

X-Pro: An Off-Road Focus
Kia is keen to capitalize on the growing off-road crossover trend by significantly improving the X-Pro derivative. This trim is now seriously capable:
- Clearance: Ground clearance is raised to 9.1 inches (comfortably exceeding the 8.4 inches of the previous X-Pro).
- Traction: AWD X-Pro models get an electronic limited-slip differential (E-LSD) and a center differential lock, which can maintain a 50/50 front/rear torque split.
- Tech: New features include Rock Mounted Motor Driven Power Steering (R-MDPS), a dedicated Terrain Mode, and a Ground View Monitor that operates at speeds of below 6 mph.

First-Class Interior Tech
The new Telluride has worked hard to create a more premium, spacious, and gadget-packed interior, confirming it is still a family vehicle first and foremost.
- Displays: Dual 12.3-inch panoramic digital displays are available, powered by the new Connected Car Navigation Cockpit operating system.
- Luxury: Available front relaxation seats with power leg rests and an Ergo Motion driver’s seat with massaging functionality. Even the third-row seats can be heated.
- Entertainment: The new Entertainment and Data Services supports content streaming from YouTube, Netflix, and Disney+—a perfect feature to keep rear passengers happy.
The 2027 Kia Telluride debut builds on the recipe that made the first-generation a runaway success, and with this suite of upgrades, it is poised to once again become one of the country’s favorite three-row crossovers.
